After nearly four years of litigation in four different venues, Jack Nicklaus has reclaimed ownership and control of the Nicklaus Companies, the business built on his name.
In a new Golf Digest feature, Jack speaks candidly about the long road back from a partnership gone wrong, a defamation fight that produced a $50 million jury verdict in his favor, and the settlement that reunited him with the business he founded half a century ago.
“I didn’t do it for me,” Jack said. “I’m 86 years old. This was for my legacy and for my family.”
The Nicklaus Companies returns to its roots as a family enterprise. Son Gary Nicklaus steps in as CEO, Jackie Nicklaus II takes the lead in golf course design, and Jack himself plans to continue designing, which he thoroughly enjoys.
