The travel website wanderbat.com has named five Nicklaus Design golf courses “Best in State.” To help inform their rankings, they turned to the experts at Golf Digest, Golf.com and Golf Advisor. The final list incorporates a variety of input, from expert opinions on course design to reviews and votes from thousands of golfers. The Nicklaus Design courses to take honors in their respective state were:
Alabama—Shoal Creek
Delaware—Bayside
Indiana—Sycamore Hills Golf Club
Kentucky—Valhalla Golf Club
Montana—Old Works Golf Course
The five courses highlight Nicklaus Design’s presence in various national markets, as well as the design career of Jack Nicklaus. Each course named “Best in State” is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course personally designed by the Golden Bear. As a company, there are 390 Nicklaus Design golf courses open in 41 countries and 39 states. Nicklaus Design has opened 213 in the United States.
