Dublin, Ohio — Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance announced today three marquee commitments for the 39th edition of the prestigious invitational Tournament hosted by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus: 2011 PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley, former World No. 1 Luke Donald and the reigning PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner.
The three men join one of the strongest fields in golf this year that includes all four reigning major champions: Masters winner Bubba Watson, U.S. Open winner Justin Rose, who is the 2010 Memorial winner, Open Championship winner Phil Mickelson and Dufner. Also entered is current world No. 1 Adam Scott, who won the 2013 Masters.
Bradley, 27, is one of the brightest young stars on the PGA TOUR. He has recorded 21 top-10 finishes since 2010, with a career-best seven top-10s in 2013. The Jupiter, Fla., resident is a fierce competitor that was a member of the U.S. squads for the 2012 Ryder Cup and 2013 Presidents Cup matches. Bradley has finished atop the leaderboard on three occasions on TOUR, winning his first major championship in 2011 at The PGA Championship. He is currently No. 21 in the Official World Golf Ranking and No. 27 in FedExCup points. Bradley will be making his fourth start at this year’s Memorial. He made his first cut at last year’s Tournament and finished in a tie for 50th place. He has career earnings at Muirfield Village Golf Club of $15,252 and his scoring average is 73.75.
Donald is no stranger to success on the PGA TOUR. He spent a total of 56 weeks as the World No. 1 from May 2011 to August 2012, which ranks fifth all-time behind Tiger Woods, two-time Memorial winner Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, and 2010 Memorial Tournament honoree Seve Ballesteros. Although he has yet to seize his first major championship, he has come close on multiple occasions. Donald enjoyed a career year in 2011, which included a plethora of awards: PGA TOUR Player of the Year, which is known as the Jack Nicklaus Award, PGA Player of the Year, European Tour Player of the Year, the Byron Nelson Award and Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average, and the Arnold Palmer Award as the leading money winner with $6,683,214. Donald also won the European Race to Dubai, becoming the first player to win both the PGA TOUR and European Tour money titles in the same year. So far this season, Donald has finished in the top-10 three times. His best outing came at the RBC Heritage where he finished second. The 36-year-old Englishman, who resides in Evanston, Ill., has won five career PGA TOUR titles. Currently, Donald ranks No. 19 in the world and No. 39 in FedExCup points. He will be making his 10th career start at Muirfield Village Golf Club, where he has landed inside the top-25 in his last five starts, including a T21 finish last year. His scoring average at the Memorial is 71.88 and his career earnings total $710,052. Donald’s best Memorial Tournament outing came in 2008 when he tied for sixth place.
An Ohio native, Dufner made his mark on the PGA TOUR in 2012 by recording his first TOUR victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, followed by a second win just two starts later at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. He finished 2012 a career-best second in regular season FedExCup points and career-high earnings of $4,869,304. Dufner capped off the year with his first Ryder Cup appearance. He added his third PGA TOUR victory and his first major championship in 2013 at The PGA Championship, and he competed for the U.S. last year at Muirfield Village Golf Club in The Presidents Cup. Dufner has posted three top-10 finishes in the 2013–2014 season and has career PGA TOUR earnings of $16,404,925. He currently sits at No. 22 in the world and No. 79 in FedExCup points. Dufner’s Memorial Tournament records include a scoring average of 74.5 after missing the cut in his two previous appearances in 2009 and 2010.
